We stopped here for a snack before the bamboo forest. Just a very small snack sized container of fried chicken. It wasn't great at all. Overpriced too. They grabbed the worst looking container that had less than all the others and the chicken tasted cheap and like it had been sitting out for quite a while. Go elsewhere for something to eat. This place sucked.

Soba was tasty and decent price. Good for a snack. Don't expect a seat though. Lots of tourists there too.
Tofu is good. But other foods like noodles and dumplings is really bad. They are cold and no taste, not order to cook.
The best tasting and quality bamboo shoot udon I've ever had in Kyoto. The soup is clear and in perfect conjuction to the noodles, not too hard or soft. Price is excellent (500 yen) compared to other noodle places that are double or triple the price, but have little to offer. Great job!
Worst udon I've ever tasted. No need to be hurry. If you're hungry after visiting the bamboo grove, just walk a bit more to the main street near the train station. Many other better options for food there.
