A wonderful atmosphere, food which is consistently excellent. Pavel and his team consistently deliver family cooking which is tasty and served to perfection. My favourite was the duck with cherries. My friend thought the herring with onions was their favourite but It is all good. Highly recommended, we keep going back. It gets busy at the weekend so book ahead.

Very professional service, food itself was very delicious. Interesting interior design, original and genuine, the place has its soul. :)

So disappointed yesterday. We have been here several times, but yesterday we were ignored by the staff. Didn’t get the correct vegetables. Nobody asked us if we wanted anything else after we had finished the main course. Nobody asked us if we wanted to pay. We literally had to stand at the bar in order to get any attention. That was the last visit.

I suppose every city has one or two restaurants that have been around for decades, were once the top place, still have a staunch local following, and perhaps look a little past their best, or 'weathered.' Anatewka is one of these, and like others I know, it was worth visiting to experience its distinctive cuisine and to sense something of the local culture that you won't find elsewhere. Such as, the traditional Jewish-style and Polish cuisines, the cosy atmosphere, almost like being in an old family's rambling apartment, and even the young violinist perched on top of high furniture playing a medley of Polish and Jewish favourites. I went on a Sunday afternoon (with a wee hangover from the night before!) and found the selection of hot and cold starters much to my liking, especially Szpik kostny z pietruszką i limonką (bone marrow with greens and lime sauce), which was perfectly fatty, oily, savoury, herby and tart. The menu and drinks selection is pretty extensive and you will find many vegan, vegetarian and kosher options.

Cosy and relaxed and traditional atmosphere. Food is heavy and could have more taste but assume it is style of this type of cuisine. Definitely still worth visiting.
