One of my favourite places in Zutphen, whether alone or with kids. Good honest food at great prices, friendly atmosphere, no alcohol, profit goes to a good cause. Apple cake is legendary, but the omelettes and salads are great, too.

Coffee Bar with friendly priced day meals, grandma's way. Since 1889. Definitely the biggest surprise of 4 days in Zutphen. A stylish bar in the center of Zutphen, sort of art deco style with a rich use of stained glass in the decoration of the lamps on the walls and the ceiling. 10 Euro for 3 courses. But only during daytime. It's kind of a social project as the people working there have a disability. We paid our bill, nearly 20 Euro, but when I got back to my place, I realized, they forgot one day meal. I insisted on paying this part too, but they encountered big problems to enter it in their cash register and suggested to give it away for free. Which I couldn't accept given the friendly and fast service, the quality of the meals, the low prices and the great interior. No alcoholic beverages! No music, only the gentle sound of normal conversations. But still 100% recommendable.
