Excellent place with almost every animal from the planet present and past. Giant Mammoth and Blue Whale skeleton are gighlights. Well preserved and presented but again mostly in Russian. Well worth the 250 Rubles entry ticket. Must visit for about 2 hours.
Very interesting indeed! Very cool and fascinating and weird objects and artifacts from expirements ect. I wonder what will be different when I visit next time.
The museum is a great learning experience for kids and adults alike. It’s enriching and not to be missed. The collection is really commendable.
Never in my life have I seen so many stuffed animals! Quite 'old fashioned' compared with British zoological museums, but absolutely fascinating and amazing! One of my favourite places in St Petersburg.
This place is a must visit. They have an amazing collection of all animal species from insects to mammals. They are all stuffed but displayed so beautiful in their surroundings. The fossil remains of the mammoth is a major draw.
One of the greatest museums in Saint Petersburg, and one of the greatest natural museums in the world. This museum traces its history back to 1831 and has one of the biggest collections of this kind, being second only to the British Museum. It has a very extensive systematic collection, as well as plenty of dioramas. Its particular feature is the mammoth collection, it has the only adult mounted mammoth in the world, as well as two baby mammoths on display. Worth to pay a visit, even if your are not a big fan of nature museums. It is located among several other historic buildings on the spit of Vasilyevsky Island, the spot with a splendid view of the Winter palace on the other side of the Neva river. Be prepared that the waiting time may be quite long during the ush hour\, such as school holidays. Knowledge of Russian or Latin is an advantage, since not all the exhibits have labels in English.
Wonderful wonderful museum! Full of animal samples and super spacious area.
