A simple Ryokan in the middle of calm, narrow little streets, surrounded by local houses and people, but near the busy Kyoto station place. So calm that wild birds feel safe besides it. And river bank near by for pleasant morning walk.

You get what you pay for, is. Very valid statement. The price is lower than other places as there's no meals provided, no seperate baths, only one hot tub. But the friendly staff, classic decor are well within reason. There's also a public bath house around the corner If you want something more. So if youre travelling on a budget, not expecting superb fancy upscale things or just enjoy the classic styles. Give this a go.
Nice, very nice. Traditional Japanese rooms at 15 minutes walk from the JR Kyoto station. Do not expect Ritz-Carlton, but nothing will be missing from your room and also the Staff that speak a simple English will do everything they can to assist you. There is coin-op laundry and a small onsen bath (nice surprise). WiFi works great. Recommended.
The location is superbly located and the price to quality ratio is really good. The train station is easy to reach. Good transport links to downtown or to old town. Next to the place is a small local spa and opposite a small bar with a really good atmosphere. There is a possibility to wash clothes.
Lovely Ryokan near the train station and a number of cafes in walking distance for breakfast, lunch and restaurants for dinner. We had the room on the ground floor with our two kids. Friendly staff, comfortable and a nice way to mix up our Japan accommodations.
Great little place to stay. Spotless clean. Super welcome reception. We were able to live our luggage till 3pm with them, even those check out is 10am. It is a nice neighbourhood as well. Would stay again!
Great staff, very helpful and they are English speaking. Loved the hot top after a long day and if you like sleeping on traditional bamboo floor it's great, for me I like my bed extremely cozy but my husband loved sleeping on the floor. They clean your room every day and you're are giving slippers and a kimono with two towels each there are a TV and an electric kettle for tea.
A lovely traditional-style accommodation. Staff were warm and accommodating and the rooms were comfortable. Shower water could take a bit of time to warm up and sometimes the bar across the street could get a little noisy with people talking, but neither were problematic for me. Location is between the heart of Gion and the market, about a 20 minute brisk walk to each. There is a sento a short walk nearby as well. I would definitely stay here again.
