Visited for the first time last night and I already absolutely love it here. Its my atmosphere down to a tee. There's a wide variety of ales to be tried and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again and again. I may have found my regular.

I used to enjoy popping into the W.M. Hawkes on a Friday night when I moved up to Hull for Uni. Abbey and Emily were a great laugh. I used to enjoy propping up the bar with the girls and catching up with them and the other customers. The ales were tasty and there was a surprisingly diverse selection for such a small pub. The atmosphere was lively. The whole range of clientele would visit. These included; sailors and tourists from the port, students like myself, locals from Hull and indeed from all over Yorkshire who just wanted to go to a good pub. WM Hawkes is probably one of the best pubs I've been too, a proper old fashioned pub and a jolly good night out.
Enjoy this pub, have had a few duff pints (taste wise, not the way the beer is kept!) but mainly good. Nearly always include it on any day/night out.

Absolutely love this gem of a pub, my haunt while waiting for my misses while she is doing her arts classes on high Street, staff always engage you in conversation and draw you into chats with other customers, beer choice is excellent, can't wait until you open your doors again
