In the past, I have rung up to order One Hundred Stars scarves which were not in stock and the assistants have always been most obliging (bearing in mind they are sister companies). I would go and pick up the scarf, and whilst I was in store invariably have a browse and more often than not, end up spending 3 figures. The last time I did this was shortly before lockdown. I’ve just phoned the shop and tried to order in a scarf, and was told that no, this couldn’t happen any more and I should just buy from the One Hundred Stars website instead. In a time when we’re trying to save the high street, and Sheffield city centre in particular, why is this good business practice? I supply a local gift shop with products and they actively encourage the makers to have customers collect private sales from the shop, because they know it will drive footfall. Within Reason? Beyond Reason more like!
