Chose a time when it's low tide and you can enjoy a spectacular walk across the sands to Hilbre Island where you'll see an abundance of seabirds and seals. Binoculars recommended.

Came during low tide so felt very Mad Max being there. Careful sitting on the rocks a rat or two live in there.
Amazing, just amazing walking ovef to Hilbre Island when the tide is out. I love the rocks, cliffs, caves, shells, sand and sea. Remember to bring something warm for when he wind picks up! Beautiful place.
Beautiful beach great walk lovely and clean highly recommended
If West Kirby beach has a failing it's only that it's too popular on a sunny day. Understandably so though, with plenty of open sandy beach, and beautiful views across the Dee estuary towards Wales. Hilbre Island is a short walk away, and well worth exploring between tides. West Kirby itself is a lovely little town as well, with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops among the faded but charming Victorian elegance of the town.
I love the view and the reflection from the lake. It's so serene. I was so tired from a long day at New Brighton (I took a train to West kirby), the view is breathtaking. I really enjoy spending my evening there. Some of the locals are very friendly.
Perfect place for a day out. Take a 30 minute walk around the marina or beach, then pop into the town for a pint, meal or cafe. Good rail link to anywhere on the Wirral or Liverpool.
Great place for a stroll to sunbathe or have a picnic also the walk to hilbre is fab but keep an eye on the tide times
