Our son was married at the weekend at Windmill Barn. All safety procedures were in place for the 20 guests who were allowed to attend, Seating arrangements for the ceremony and meal were great and our now daughter in law and her mother were allowed in to decorate the barn the previous day which she did beautifully. So why only 3 stars? The venue is in the middle of nowhere up a very narrow lane which is in a very poor state of repair and unsuitable for vehicles to reach it. The cost of the hire is very expensive and the caterers have to provide their own equipment as there is no functioning kitchen! The caterer brings in cookers, fridges and everything required to feed a wedding party. It was a nice day but I believe overpriced for what was provided.

In the beginning we fell in love with the venue and knew straight away we wanted to have our special day there. Clare seemed lovely and is obviously experienced but she was too controlling for my liking. I knew what I wanted and it wasn't what she was suggesting. She was doing my job and contacting the businesses I had involved without even letting me know. I was unhappy to be paying 800 for buses that they demanded we have bring our guests and when I tried to try and compromise with her due to budget reasons she asked if i just wanted to cancel the whole thing. This was only a couple of weeks before the wedding which was extremely stressful and upsetting. They were great on the day. But the day after... wow! We had to be there before 12 which is not ideal the day after a full day and night of celebrating. When we got there they were tearing down the beautiful garlands I paid a lot of money for They made us take big bags of rubbish and dispose of it ourselves! They rushed us to get our stuff and leave quickly. They threw out our wedding cake that the caterer left which was upsetting as we never even got a piece. We found Alan to be rude and standoffish the next day. I was very hurt afterwards. So much money paid and I was very disappointed to be treated like that afterwards! I live only 10 minutes away from the venue and by the time we had recycled all the rubbish they made us take away with us I had multiple missed calls and texts demanding we get our guests cars off their property ASAP. They basically made us drive our cars over the limit which is something my Dad was furious with. Yes, the venue is beautiful but the owners need to do something about the issues I've mentioned.
Attended a wedding and it was beautiful. Bit tricky to find especially if you were going in the dark. Overall experience was first class. A very different rustic venue in a beautiful setting. Excellent.
We booked our wedding here back in 2017, for April 2019. As soon as we drove down the track and into the grounds, we knew it was the venue for us and that it was worth waiting for. It is warm, welcoming and like nowhere we had seen before. The calm and cosy feeling you get in the barn itself was exactly what we were looking for, and it was the perfect size for our 80 or so guests. The sun shone on our day, meaning we were lucky enough to get married outside in the courtyard which was just perfect. There is lots of space for the kids to play (and adults!), and they loved it, we were even able to arrange an Easter egg hunt for them! Clare and Alan were amazing from start to finish. They were on hand at every stage, helping us with any questions and to keep calm. On the day they were a great support, and many of our guests have commented on how lovely they were. We’re so happy to have chosen Windmill Barn for our wedding, thank you Clare & Alan for everything xxx
