Let me start this off by saying that I’ve already had one brother pass away at this hospital due to complications resulted from a car accident. No blame there. But this morning, I’m sure you can understand the fear inside of me when I hear my younger brother was in a bad car accident and is being rushed to the hospital. All I wanted was to be there for him. I sat down in the waiting room, where NO ONE ELSE WAS, mind you and got pointed at by security and was told to “Get Out.” I understand COVID precautions and I would’ve left if anyone else came in, BUT NOBODY WAS THERE. It was 5 in the morning and I was told I had to sit outside in the freezing cold. While the 6 security guards could be packed in one tiny room with no masks on in the warmth. I tried explaining to them my worry with my brother and our family’s past with this same exact thing and they did not care. They didn’t listen, they talked over me, they were rude. Not even just security, but the front desk people had no compassion whatsoever. I even caught the woman talking bad about my family FOR NO REASON. I thought Valley Health’s values included compassion and I’m ashamed that this ER has to carry the Valley Health name. The nurses were great, don’t get me wrong. But those people that have first interactions with patients and family? I’d throw them all away and start over again. I’m still in the parking lot waiting for my brother who is moved to the ICU. I only had 2 hours of sleep before getting the news of his accident, so I was lying down on the bench. YET ANOTHER SECURITY GUARD, yells at me for laying down. At this point, I’m willing to drive hours away. This hospital seems just like a prison. I pity other patients that have to endure this kind of behavior.

This is in regards to my personal visit to Winchester Medical Center for treatment 7-20-19. Terrible, terrible! Having been delivered to the hospital by EMT's, I was left to wait in the waiting room for several hours that evening. Having bled THROUGH my temporary bandages - you would think that I would have been treated sooner, if for nothing else than to keep the others in the waiting room from being exposed to the blood! After several hours of waiting my husband approached the reception desk to inquire how much longer the wait would be - what do you know - I was called the minute he stepped away from the desk! Since I was diagnosed with a head injury, you would think that I would not have to ask several times for pain relief - NOPE! Had to retrieve my own purse and take my own Motrin! I was taken for a cervical CT. My leg was stitched closed and I was advised that either myself or someone else could pull the stitches out in about ten days. The waiting room was non-stop that night; however MANY others with less severe injuries were called for medical assistance the same time as myself (including one for a pregnancy test!). No one ever held a stethoscope to me, no one ever looked into my eyes. Upon my return to my home state, I was diagnosed with a fractured nose and a concussion. To add insult to injury, I was billed IN FULL by the hospital PRIOR to my private insurance being billed!!!!! The whole experience was beyond belief! I should add that MANY years go, I had an experience with this same hospital and had no complaints in the 90's.

Receptionist Evette was rude and lied about contacting patients nurse about allowing access for an additional visitor. This was allowed for 5 days but Evette couldn't be bothered with checking it out.She would be better suited working somewhere else but definitely not a hospital.

I went to ER with acute abdomen. They were very attentive. Consulted with appropriate physician and were able to identify problem. I was admitted and found that nursing services were really good. Meds passed in timely fashion and when I called for nurse wait time was a few minutes. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.
