Interesting. 3 floors. you start at the top at the Roman level, the next is the medieval level and the ground floor is Victorian. 5 each seemed very reasonable. They have period clothes for adults and children which is fun. They have a small shop. Gives you a good historical perspective of Winchester.

Fantastic museum, loved the way they divided the floors, makes total sense. Very good value for money and loads to see particularly if like us, you are interested in the great historical aspects of Winchester. Well done to the team as well for a great and organised one-way system.

There isn't much to see as it was undergoing a restoration of one floor. Interesting Roman time facts about the town and its history and artefacts from that period. There is a disabled platform lift that goes to all three levels.

Very informative museum about the city history from Romans to saxons to vikings to modern day. About 2 hours is enough for a visit and they also have some Jane austen artifacts for fans of the author. Worth a visit!

When you visit the lovely City of Winchester,if you like me want to no about the history of the place, this is certainly worth a look around,it has lots of artefacts which have been discovered around the City while digging, some of which were found while putting in a updated sewer system. There are some very interesting displays including some of the amazing Roman mosaics uncovered in the City, also Iron Age and Victorian bits on display,it is all spread out over this lovely 3 storey building which stands proudly in the centre of this beautiful City.there is something I have never seen in Museums before, there is a range of period clothing which you can try on for photos ect a very different touch. Its not far from the magnificent Cathedral which is just around the corner, another place to visit with so much more to see and do,the City Mill is also a must visit, see my review on the Mill it’s truly a marvellous place to look around. For those who haven’t been the whole place is well worth a look around.Enjoy.....

Small local museum over three floors containing artifacts ranging from the Roman period through to the modern era, with nice local additions. The museum is free to enter but there are donation boxes located throughout to help support its upkeep.

This museum is free although there is a suggested donation of 3 which you can put in a coin box upstairs. The museum is on several floors and is very informative and educational. Well worth a visit. Allocate about an hour.
