Store is good generally - clean and organised. However I stood in the self-checkout queue for 5-10 minutes only to be told to redeem gift vouchers I must queue again at a regular checkout where I stood for a further 10 minutes. This should have been clearly marked. Social distancing rules were not being observed in either queue - this could have easily been resolved by staff and or security but they chose not to.

Staffing is quite poor here and leaving customers to do self check out is also a joke. Useful time spent waiting on line to make payment.

I attended the store today as always. At checkout I was asked if I intended to pay by card, a young man directed me to checkout 6. It was a self checkout I wasn't used to, because it had a gun scanner system unlike other shops where u could just scan the items without touching the machine. In this case a customer had to pick a gun like device to scan. I raised my concerns around this as it didn't seem ideal in a pandemic where everyone was doing their best to curb spread of diseases. I requested to speak to a manager just to give my feedback. I met a staff instead named Mandy. I said it didn't matter I just wanted to let management know the system was worrying. I could see the disgust in mandys face, it was certain she didn't need to hear my opinion. We were close to the till in question. She questioned why I used the self checkout, I explained I was advised to if I was paying by card. She blamed me literally saying no one asked me to. Then she claimed the self checkout till was manned and the staff cleaned the gun after each use with wipes. Right in front of both our eyes we saw customers using the same gun and no one was cleaning. Then again she blamed me saying I could have cleaned it myself as there were wipes placed around. I left in disbelief. The reasons simple, I felt verbally attacked by this staff. She was very hostile and all she could have done was take the suggestion on board. Secondly in an unusual and trying time where the rise in infections was brewing, I couldn't understand why wilko wasn't doing the best they could to prevent the spread of diseases. I walked out into my car, then got out and returned to get the lady's name. It's really a disgrace, I shall not be returning to the store.
