Friendly greeting when you walk in. Helpful staff always on hand. Great bargains. Shop is always immaculate. Great place for a slow walk around spotting the bargains or for just a quick visit. Great variety of stock. Fab prices.

Busy store, queue of about 10 for 1 till but staff doing well to direct customers to manned check out and self service. One lady was very polite and helpful to customer who decided to use self service checkout and then demanded the staff member put it all through for her. Was rude and unhelpful but staff member stayed polite and did it for ungrateful customer.
Love this shop and buy lots there. So pleased it is open during lock down.
This is not a mega store but offer all basic items. Byker area residents can visit to buy essential stuff from here. This will save time. Staff is friendly. Covid restrictions and rules are in place and mask is compulsory here.
Let me be clear, I have used this store for many years. But I think that taking advantage of a pandemic to make money, is a little bit, shady. The paper masks your selling at a cost very little to acquire for what you are, in my opinion is no better than extortion. To charge what they are for the amount of masks, I don't think it's right! Like for example, one other store not related to Wilko was selling masks pre-pandemic which cost 11.20 for 20 masks, started selling them for 10 each! I think Wilko is a good store, but taking advantage of people because of a pandemic by increasing prices by 0.80 in some cases or pounds in others, could cost you most than losing customers! It could end up costing you your business! I don't appreciate people taking advantage of people in a pandemic & I'd advise against it! After my recent visit to the store I doubt I will return, because I don't complain in writing, I complain by using my feet. In other words, I will not be coming back! If Wilko wants to prevent other customers having the same attitude I suggest you change your narrative of overcharging people for things that pre-pandemic, didn't cost that much!
