Fantastic family day out! I love the fact that you can hire a penguin for your little ones that haven't quite got the hang of ice skating & take them on the small, less busy, \Dinky Rink\ while they get their confidence. It is very cold here so be sure to wrap up & dont forget your gloves! Skating boots are available to hire too or bring your own. 2 hours fly by here but you can stay as long as you like during public skate! I'd bring your own food & drink as there is no cafe, just vending machines, which is why it lost a star. Plenty of sanitizing stations & clean toilets. Very friendly staff. Definitely visit again.

Visited Widnes planet ice rink today and was impressed with how safe I felt! The measures which have been put in place are excellent! Really enjoyed my skate session!

The rink itself was fantastic and we really enjoyed our time on the ice. Unfortunately, our time slot was two hours long and half an hour was spent in the queue waiting to get into the building. I could justify the waiting, but we won’t be returning due to the lack of safety measures. The area to return your skates was particularly crowded with no staff members in sight and no fencing to enforce social distancing. There were also no staff members at the exit and entrances at the side of the rink, so people were just getting on and off as they pleased which caused a lot of collisions. It is a shame because we liked the venue, but there was a blatant disregard for the safety of all customers.

We went on Christmas Eve and we were really disappointed with our visit. It was way too busy given the current circumstances and hardly anyone wearing face masks off the rink or socially distancing. The skate collection and return areas were chaotic and again not enough room to keep safely socially distant from other guests. No staff around to manage the queue or remind guests to wear masks. Masks were optional on the ice and we chose to wear ours but it was so busy on there. Neither of us felt completely comfortable in there. In addition, we had originally booked a 3 hour time slot (3-6pm) only to receive an email two days before our visit to advise that our slot had been changed to earlier on Christmas Eve (12.45) and would only be for 1hr 45 mins. I had to contact immediately to request a different time as this wasn’t convenient. This was moved but we were still charged the same amount for a shorter session than the original 3 hour time slot. I would expect that if you are reducing the amount of time guests can spend at your facility, then the price you charge should reflect this! Speaking to other people in the queue, I was not alone in having the sessions time changed at short notice and still be charged the full amount!
