Visited on a windy day in October. We parked in local farm for 3 which was a short walk away from the lighthouse and coast path. Did a lovely 4km loop north along the coast path and then back to the farm. Gorgeous views of Scotland and even Isle of Man, despite poor weather. The coast path is narrow and close to the cliff, with no fencing to separate, in some areas so the walk is not for the faint hearted. Make sure dogs and children are on leads in these areas!

Gorgeous place totally the opposite of the lake district. Unspoilt and not many visitors. Get off the train in St Bees or further South. Walk up the coast to Whitehaven. Taking in nature and the industrial past.

One star is only for the nature what is partly locked from public. The car park is an illusion, a private farm charged us 2 to keep the car there. No receipt... Only put the money in a plastic box. From this farm 10 mins comfortable walk to the lighthouse. Absolutely nothing to see by the lighthouse. I mean... The building itself locked. Pretty shame, I thing that place should have more relevant information to those who are planning a day out. I coffee / food option missing also, much more information what visitors can expect there.. The panorama is fantastic, though. You can see Isle of Man, Scotland... Also, lovely cows on the way to the cliff... Make sure that you have relevant information about the place before you visit.

Lovely little town with a beautiful beach. Also a cliff top walk for the more adventurous, perfect for all the family xx
