An excellent village pub. Friendly staff, pint of Unicorn was spot on, great food. Over the course of a long weekend we ate fish & chips on the benches outside, then a meal inside, then a Sunday roast as a takeaway. All excellent quality and good value/portion sizes. Covid-19 measures are sensible and easy to follow (track & trace done through logging onto their WiFi - takes 30 seconds). Limited outside space (front is better than back beer garden due to kitchen extractor fan) so advised to get there early if weather is nice. Heartily recommended if in the area. Just had takeaway Sunday Lunch Vegetarian option and it was great!!
From the outside of the pub I thought the food was going to be just standard pizza, burgers etc. When we were inside the pub we were greeted by warm friendly bar and waitress staff and the food was delicious and fairly priced. We had steak and the steak sauce was included in the price. A different pub in the same village charged 3 for the sauce and wasn't worth it. I would highly recommend walking past the first pub and going to the white lion as it's better value and a warm friendly experience. Will definitely go again!!

The fish platter (on the specials) was really tasty and a good size, along with their smoked salmon sandwich. The staff were efficient and friendly. The only negative being the in front of house outdoor seating is on a slight slant.
