Reborn wonderfully after lockdown. Food is good value for money (I’d say an edge up on pre-lockdown) and wonderfully service with a bit of personality. Looked after us wonderfully and the nice atmosphere of the White Hart has withstood the virus. Well done all involved.

The short story: Worst burger in all my 50 years. That includes fast food chains, 'greasy Joe's' joints, 1980's ideas of burgers in rural Thailand, and those made at home by 12 year old boys; quite an achievement. It consisted of one bun expertly cut in half, one piece of chicken breast cooked... well, perhaps \made unraw\ is a better phrase... without marinade, and three pieces of wilted leaf the size of my big toe. No butter, no sauce, no flavor. Without a doubt the most uninspired piece of food I've ever seen. But it was served on a fancy wooden serving board so... yeah. As I was desperately hungry I borrowed a mushroom and half a bun which had some sauce on it from my wife's mushroom burger (which was lovely, by the way) and managed to squeeze the dry - let's call it what it was - chicken and bun down my gullet. At the end of the meal the waitress asked whether \everything was alright with the food\ before collecting the plates. I asked her to clarify whether the burger was supposed to have been served like that or was there some mistake. She said that's how it comes. She said she'd let the chef know my thoughts. The rest of the meal: chips were fine if also a bit dry. The coleslaw was the goopy kind, drowned in fatty mayonnaise. The tiny side salad was actually good with a balsamic drizzle. My wife's burger was lovely - look at the photo; juicy and tasty. That's why I was confused. Does the chef hate chicken or just people who eat chicken? Further confusion; the place seemed popular amongst locals. The meals in the pub just in the next town are really, really good so... I dunno. I'm confused. Other notables: staff and locals friendly, Guinness not that great, good music, waited a bit for the food but we were kind of warned about that by a semi-articulate young waiter. Understaffed, I'd say. So, I can't recommend the pub. Seems others would though. Just don't order the whatever it was and be prepared to wait.
Went on a very busy night last week during Eat Out to Help Out. Delay in serving but staff very accommodating and looked after us well. Food was well cooked and very tasty. Very good value.
The pub is now under new management and we visited on the second day of food service. We both had the burger, which was fantastic, a really good balance of flavours and perfectly cooked. The accompanying chips were also great, crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Will be going back again soon.
Seb and Freya are the perfect hosts, very friendly, warm welcome, varied menu to suit most tastes. Would definitely recommend this lovely pub
