Once you climb the 199 steps you are greeted with this wonderful church. Benches are situated outside to sit catch your breath from the climb and take in some spectacular view and heritage. Pleasant inside like most churches

Great view at outside the church. The church itself is small but has some unique pieces (the trumpet, the stolen chest). Definitely worth a quick visit after walking the 199 steps
Very interesting church with unique features. Enjoyed my visit here. The stewards were very friendly and the place is welcoming. If you are visiting the 199 steps or the Abbey I would recommend a visit to this place. It is also a good place to reflect.
After getting up the 199 steps the views from here are fantastic, we were lucky it was a beautiful day and the visibility was excellent. You don't have to walk the 199 steps to get here though, there is a car park in the old Abbey or there is a donkey road along side the stairs. The donkey Road is still very steep and is cobbled so not wheelchair friendly. Although there is very little to do it is interesting to walk around the church and read the tomb stones if you like that kind of thing or sit on the benches and watch the coming and going of the traffic in the harbour. It was very quiet for such a beautiful day as it was the first day of relaxation of the pandemic rules and people were starting to return to work and school.
Big thank you to farther Michael gobber for the wedding blessing service today for our 30th wedding anniversary st Mary's and Whitby hold special memories for us both thanks Wigan from Steve and Helen
