Gorgeous location in the lakes. Beautiful views even when its wet and windy! Car parking charges and the cafe are expensive. Lots of choice for walks with varying length and difficulty, there's map outside the shop to choose your route. Go Ape is situated here, we loved that when we visited a few years ago. It didn't look open today. There are toilets here, they are clean and free to use. There is a shop and visitor centre, we didn't enter these. My husband has been on the bike trails, he said they're amazing.

One of the best forests in the country - absolutely stunning with fantastic food and amenities. We went back after visiting years ago, this time with our 2 yr old to do the Gruffalo trail. An amazing walk for the family that is easy to moderate, but not good for a wheel chair and too steep in places. (Just in case that helps.) Gruffalo carvings are stunning and if you children like the story they will love this. Didn't do it, but the Go Ape looks amazing too as we had a look while we were there. A must to visit if you are in the area.
Absolutely outstanding experience. When you've got kids it's worth to go there. Every minute in forest is full of attraction. We founded there a lot of fun, kids love it. When it's quiet you can think that Gruffalo is walking somewhere behind the trees:) Great time even when playgrounds was closed due virus.

Great place with trails through the forest, events about orienteering, Christmas etc. If Go ape is not for you, you could enjoy the views from the terrace/picnic area. In the coffee shop where you could find local products, soups, sandwiches, cakes. lovely souvenir shop. Centre to bike mountain bikes, it that's your thing... children play area where nature meets imagination is good starting point if you only have few hours. Great view huge parking, so you could go late.
