Wanted to recycle my old white electrical sockets that I had replaced for more modern chrome ones. Took them to West Mersea RECYCLING Centre rather than throw them in the bin. I was told they looked like commercial waste as there were an A4 bag full. Had to explain the situation before being told to put them in the electrical cage but with a comment from a member of staff that it was obviously commercial waste. Please Colchester Council do not tell your staff to call customers a liar just because they have more than 1 item. I was trying to do the right thing by recycling and it does say recycling centre on the site doors.

The center is very clean and the men there although working hard always had time to help and advise you.

Having cleared 10 bags of Domestic waste for my 93 yr old father in law in Mersea today, too many to get in my car so we used my panel van (not business) to be told that I could not use the facility because I was in a van, i was told to go to Colchester (council policy) I know it’s not the staffs problem but surely this could create fly tipping. Can’t see why a van is not allowed as not everyone has a car to use.
