Fantastic place to sit and have a picnic overlooking Hastings old town. Then wander into St. Clement's caves where you can explore many aspects of Hastings more colourful past. The castle is also great place to explore, especially the \whispering\ dungeons. My favourite activity is climbing over the sandstone rocks and I have spent thousands of hours finding little caves and crannies since I was a child in the sixties and carving countless messages in the stone. Also you can't miss out on the fascinating funicular railway carved through the hillside and gaze at the opposing funicular railway on the East Hill opposite. A magical place.

Great place for a view over the old town and sea front. (looking toward sea) Castle to the right and old twittens to walk through to the left bringing you into the old town. There is also a lift or the stairs down if your feeling fit.
Beautiful erea for a family picknick, but watch out for dogs of their leads as not all owners of dogs aren't as responsible as the majority of dog walkers. Brilliant view of channel, excellent photo opportunitys
It was hard to climb it but was really worth it
One of Hastings' most loved beauty spots. Home of the Norman Castle remains, the Smugglers' Caves and one of the two cable car lifts from the Old Town - the other on the East Hill. From the West Hill one can enjoy spectacular views across the Bourne Valley to the East Hill, out to sea to the South and over Hastings Town Centre, the Pier and Marine Court to Beachy Head to the West. A great place to sit on the rocks behind the Castle and watch the sun go down on a warm Summer evening.
