Visited here on a beautiful November day. The walk on the shoreline was stunning with the sun shining and the waves lapping gently on the shore. The accessible caves are interesting and although they take a bit of finding the pictish carvings transport your imagination back 1500 years. Well worth a visit but please look, don't touch, our history needs to be preserved for future generations.

I spent a couple of hours with the SWACS on a tour to see the Wemyss ancient cave, way back in August. The people giving the tour are members of SWACS and they're incredibly knowledgable about the Pictish art in the caves as well as the history of the caves and surrounding area. It's alway amazing to be able to see archaeology in-situ.

Fantastic peice of history. Beautiful scenery. Be prepared and take a torch sensible shoes. To get to the castle you need to climb quite a lot of stairs. Jonathan's cave, sloping cave and the gas works are after the castle. There are stairs to go down to get there from the castle. Please be respectful of the site and take all rubbish with you. There are bins at the car park. Take your time in the cave's as there is a lot to see that's easily missed. If you want to know what to expect there is a good website 4dwemysscaves.org. You can do a virtual tour on this website and find out more about the Caves. I am going to visit again as I missed a lot of the carvings.

This was something that I had wanted to see for some time. Great to be able to access some of the caves.

Love the history, plenty of fossils on the beach to look for, I'm sure there are 9 or 10 caves between East and West Wemyss. Not all are accessible. The well cave under the castle is great for paranormal research, scared me!! And a little known fact that across the road from The Central Bar there is one of only two headstones designed by the world famous Charles Rennie Macintosh, not alot of people know that, so that is also worth having a look at.
