Founded by a team of undergraduate students in early 2014, it has become one of the most influential and rapidly expanding non-profit student organizations, mainly targeting the University of Waterloo and the Wilfred Laurier University. UWWE has raised over 50 events in the Waterloo-Kitchener regions for the past 4 years. We offer a variety of extracurricular activities such as: Fall newcomers & freshmen orientations, annual basketball competitions, festival-themed activities (e.g. Halloween Haunted House, Summer Music Festival), field trips to nearby attractions (e.g. Niagara Falls, Blue Mountains), as well as an interactive online social networking platform. Our WeChat social networking platform is consistently updated with breaking news, upcoming events and collage life-related information. The platform currently has over 7 thousand subscribers, with on average thousands of views per article, peaking over 9 thousand views on a number of them. Sponsors and collaborators of UWWE include: other student-operated clubs such as WLUCISA and KWCSSA, UWaterloo Center for Career Action, local businesses and entrepreneurship around the campus, and global corporations (e.g. RBC, Mercedes Benz, the EZ Group). The fundamental goal of UWWE is to build a fun and supportive environment for college students, as well as help individuals to cope with and de-stress from university life. Students’ sense of belonging, well-beings and success are our primary concern.
