About: The University of Waterloo Finance Association is dedicated to providing an environment which encourages and enhances student interest in the financial industry. Mission: The UW Finance Association aims to introduce new students to finance, facilitate networking opportunities amongst members and the industry, and develop practical knowledge applicable outside of the academic setting. History: UW Finance Association was formed in May 2011 as the continuation of two reputable finance clubs, WIREX and UW Capital Markets Group. UWFA aims to incorporate many of the career and investment focused events and services of both the founding clubs, while continuously growing to provide a wide financial resource base for its members. WIREX was founded in September 2007 and was the first official FEDS finance club. Well known for its stock simulations and investment tutorials, it grew rapidly, expanding throughout all faculties. It has had memberships of over 200 members per term and forged partnerships with many professors and members of the financial industry. The UW Capital Markets Group was founded in September 2009. Through a variety of networking and job preparation events, the club aimed to expose members to available career opportunities within Capital Markets.
