Staff were friendly and polite. The actual pub is nice. The food was so disappointing. We went on the premise that there were good gluten free options, ordered 2 gluten free steak burgers. When the food was ready the waiter advised us there was a small amount of gluten in the burger! He said he could still put them in a gluten free bun though. Luckily as we are not allergic to gluten but intolerant we decided to risk it as we had waited a while and needed to get going. When he came back and served them, he told us there wasn't actually any gluten free buns! So we ended up with a thin, gluten, steak burger which was burnt with no bun. We didn't make a fuss, we don't believe in kicking and screaming to get our way but we were very disappointed. The standards have definitely fallen. We had our daughters Christening party here a few years back and it was great. Such a shame. The toilets were dirty too! Not great while we are all on a hygiene high during a pandemic

Ive been again today to give it another chance but again you can't fault the decor BUT why can you smell urine out back door and the most annoying thing is your service charge. We had 2 pizzas a glass of wine and a larger do you think you should put on a service charge at a pub for this? You never even told me not until I went to touch my card on the machine and it was more. I'm sorry but this has happened twice now! Sorry never again and will tell friends and family not to go. Very sad.

Food was delicious although the portions were small. Lovely decor and warm cosy and inviting place. However when you go to eat there they charge a service charge which I didn't quite understand what it was for!? 10% of the food bill extra charge on top for service? I don't think I'll be back. Edit: Mine wasn't optional nor was I told it was optional it was on the bill and I paid with my card...

We hadn't been here since before the refurb and thought we'd give it a go. The decor is lovely and it looks so much better than it did. However, the food is pretty average overall, and you can find better quality for the same price locally.

A deceptively huge but still charming pub serving very good food. It is not cheap and the range of bitter is limited but otherwise this is well worth a visit. For 5 stars I'd want to see more interesting beers. As a yorkshireman I think the menu is 2 a dish too expensive but I have no local comparison.
