The Basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham is a Roman Catholic church located in Houghton Saint Giles, Norfolk, England. For hundreds of years kings and queens have visited along with countless pilgrims from all over Europe. In a time when travel to the Holy Land was not possible, Walsingham became the greatest shrine in the medieval world, and was known as England’s Nazareth. Just as on Mount Sinai, Moses took off his shoes because he was on holy ground, so the pilgrims to England’s Holy Land used to remove their shoes and walk the 'Holy Mile' into Walsingham. Highly recommend a visit to this beautiful place!

It is many years now since I last managed to come to pray in Walsingham. I try to watch Mass on Sundays and to listen to the orient who gives such educating and uplifting talks online. In this time of Lockdown he and his Brothers help to sustain us and keep us close to God.

I visited the Basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham on Saturday 1st August 2020 and it was a most enjoyable experience. There is a car park at the Basilica. The National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham is in the Slipper Chapel. The site is well sign posted so finding the Basilica is straightforward. There is also the Chapel of Our Lady of Reconciliation to visit as well. There is a tea room and gift shop as well. If you want directions to the Basilica Our Lady of Walsingham I would recommend looking at the website for the Basilica which provides directions. I would recommend a visit to the Basilica Our Lady of Walsingham.
