The best just got better. The best restaurant the midlands in fact the country probably has to offer. It has the look and feel of a Mayfair establishment only it is in Walsall, I had to keep pinching myself to keep in check with reality about where I actually was! Love this place, always busy and great great food and atmosphere. Simon HIMSELF works and serves you which is such a great honor! Highly recommended!
This was our first time at Simons restaurant, we would struggle to say it was better than OK! Entry and lead to table was brusque. Service was good to start with but simply got slower and slower. Drinks order was taken quickly and drinks arrived quickly but, bottle of red simply left on the table unopened. Food order was taken but there was quite a wait for the starters to arrive. Spare ribs in honey were very nice. We then waited, waited and waited for our main course, which did arrive eventually. We then had to ask for our dish warmers to be lit! My crispy duck was very nice, the plum sauce was very strong but not too sweet as it can be from many other restaurants and take-aways. However, my wife's szechuan beef was utterly bland having neither flavour nor any noticeable heat! I would say Simons is overpriced considering the overall quality of the food and service together. We were then left with no question re dessert or coffee. I eventually caught a waiters eye and asked for the bill. We will give Simons another go, but they will have to up their game if we are to return after that. We may try a take-away and see how that goes.
Nice restaurant comprising several rooms... we were slightly early and we're put at the table to await other guests... and then left.. we had to get up and ask for menus and drinks otherwise we'd have been left twiddling our thumbs. Food was good but not great and a little stingy with the egg fried rice... bill on the expensive side of moderate
