We wanted to use the cable car today, but it is not operating because of some maintenance (i was wondering why they need to do the maintenance before the season officially ends, especially if there are still so many nice sunny days in October like today). There is a bus instead, BUT. The bus was tiny and very crowded, totally ignoring Covid-19 restrictions. It operates every 30 min. You pay 11 Eur for return ticket, there is no air in the bus, not possible to open the windows, not enough seating and I don’t want to see how crowded the bus will be on the weekends. Very disappointed how this kind of service can damage such a beautiful area as Hrebienok and Stary Smokovec.

In few minutes, you get to a good starting point and save some energy and time for further hikes. It is bit pricy, but I am always willing to pay, once or twice in a year, during holidays. This year, one operator was very nice, allowed us to get in with our dog (12 kg puppy) without basket, despite the signs say clearly that he should not do it. Save us from an hour long walk in the rain (we will be more ready and equipped for next time). The place is usually busy, but it is easy to just walk through the crowds and find your track and direction. We never waited longer than 15 min for the next train.
They should be more organized and informative to the thousands of tourists arring there. After of 1hour waiting in the que for taking the sledge ride the cashier informed us that the 2hours or 4hours tickets are not available for the specific day even if was advertised exactly there on spot( not professionals). In the midle there is the way of the funicilar and left and right are walking paths leading up on Hrebienok. 1path should be for walking up and down and the other for sledges, people were walking up and down in both paths making the sledge experience slow and borring (unorganized). Apart from that nice views, nice place to visit.
Went there on the weekend and the most dissapointing was that had to wait in the line up to 40 mins.
Very good trip
Nice, clean and modern cable car. Very busy and packed especially during summer weekends. Fast alternative for traveling to Hrebienok.
Beutiful views in High Tatras mountains.
