Beautiful place/villege to visit, life may be different/difficult in extreme winters. Facing harbour/jetty, this place has remarkable tradition of beautifying front windows/courtyards of the houses and there is healthy competition about it among the local residents here. Have a walk through, one will find tastefully decorated, with or without flowers, the front of the houses. The landmark property Visafslag has quiet a commercial activity area around, gift/souvenirs shops, eateries/restaurants-especially reasonably priced sea food, cheese making/selling units, pubs.... frequented by both tourists and locals. The location is quiet scenic, blend of nature and man made things in harmony.... worth visiting.

A really chill place to travel to if you’re in the Netherlands. Seafood there is fresh and the price is also cheap! Although the area is mostly occupied by souvenirs shops, it’s still fairly worth a visit
My younger son and I, as members of a package tour from Hong Kong, were here in August 2014. It was fortunate that I bought a T-shirt with the name of "Volendam " on it. Otherwise, this tranquil Netherlands seaside town would become surreal to me!
