This all-wooden (stave) church was small, but had a lot of history to it. Recommend taking a tour where this is included because there is a lot of information (color, holes, age, designs, etc) that only a professional could properly explain. Interesting story, but a bit out of the way for such a small attraction in the city of Vik.

Nice stave church with and interesting interior. The staff was nice and answered all our questions. There are ancient drawings in the back of the church which you should check out.

It's unbelievable how well maintained this woodchurch is. It's spectacular! We visited it only from the outside because it would open couple of hours later, but still worth the ride.

Such a beauty! I would in fact say that this is the most beautiful stavechurch I have seen so far and I visited several. Competent guide (a kind elderly woman) who gladly shows you around and explains details. Highly recommended!

Stavechurch restored in the late nineteenth century. Magnificent example of the medieval Norwegian wooden churches.

Beautiful! I recommend getting the guided talk for about 15 mins. They will show hidden details like runes etc. So cool! Worth it.

This stave church is among a really small number still surviving in Norway (I believe there are 28 of them left). We got to see another one that is in the folk museum in Oslo - supposedly the grandest one of them. I must say this one is not too shabby - personally liked this one better than the one in Oslo. It was a pity we were super rushed for time and did not get to check out the interior but the exterior was spectacular on the day we visited.
