Food and service were very good. LP records play while you eat: no TV, no sports, no radio chatter - bonus! Nice setup and good separators between tables was reassuring. Staff are welcoming and friendly. I ordered the Steak and Eggs (18). It's sliced beef brisket topped with pickled onions and garnish. It was tasty - don't expect the traditional cut of beef. Sides included potatoes and toast (I ordered marble rye). They offer real ice tea, either black or green unsweetened (3.50) or by the can. Well located in downtown Victoria next to the Best Western Carlton Hotel, 1/2 block from Johnson at Douglas Streets, 1-block from City Hall. Worth a visit; nice atmosphere, tasty food, good prices, appreciative service.

This place is so underrated it has the best breakfast in Victoria! The line up at Jam was too long (as always) so we decided to try something new, and the Ruby's eggs Benny is the best I've ever had.
Ate at The Ruby several times while living in Victoria and thoroughly enjoyed every single meal (which is why I ate here all the time!) They have all the comfort food you could ever ask for cooked to perfection as well as plenty of healthy options for those trying to shed those extra 2020 pounds. A must try!
Been here a couple times before and it was absolutely delicious. Hence my score. This time, stayed in the hotel it's connected to, so had to bring my mom here to try. She had the chicken and waffles and I had the special. The Dr Bonnie Benny. Gets 5 star just for the name and gets even more stars for the food. Though this time I felt the food not as good and toastier than usual, it still deserves 5 stars because the majority of the food is great. Probably won't order the chicken and waffles again. My mom usually orders that if it's on a menu. She said it was it was okay. So with that if you're looking for something good, the bennies have never failed me. The shredded hash this time was a miss though. Felt it was toasted more than it should but then to the point it was soggy if that makes any sense. Also, didn't have to wait on a Sunday morning around 9am which was a plus.
Their brisket benne is absolutely delicious, very nice atmosphere and their playlist suits the vibe of the restaurant. Well located, good price and efficient service
