Came here for afternoon tea in Victoria after comparing different places and other people’s reviews. They said the iconic Empress Hotel’s afternoon tea was overpriced and highly overrated. Definitely come to Hotel Grand Pacific for a unique Asian-influenced alternative. First of all, the staff is wonderful, starting from the hotel concierge Murray who was so helpful and friendly in giving us good suggestions on our day trip, to the wonderful back-of-house kitchen brigade who made fresh to order our 3-tiered accoutrements, to our most amazing server, Timothy, who was so knowledgeable about teas and the menu and kind/accommodating- his service was impeccable and just took the experience to that whole other level. The teas and food themselves- probably the best presentation I’ve ever seen, and best flavor profiles with the subtle Asian fusion influences (I’ve had afternoon tea in London and at the Drake in Chicago, at Pendray here in Victoria as well, and several other places) -but here at Pacific restaurant- it has been the best overall experience of afternoon tea I’ve had so far.

My partner and I went here for Dine Around Victoria 2020. For both of us, our expectations were exceeded by quite a bit! I can't attest to the quality or variety of the regular full menu, but if the dishes are prepared with the same level of care and creativity that the Dine Around menu was, then I would expect the regular menu would also be fantastic. The food was extremely well presented, and, more importantly, very well prepared. Flavours were well balanced and portion sizes were generous for an upscale presentation. All of that aside, I think our experience would have been positive if we simply sat there and got to interact with our server, Jay, for a couple hours. He was the perfect blend of friendly and professional; he was kind, complimentary, attentive and personable. We felt like we were his only table, even though the restaurant was fairly busy and he was covering several tables. Thanks for the AMAZING service, Jay; it really made our night!
The service was a little slow but it was worth the wait. The tenderloin is exquisite and the atmosphere is calm and tranquil. The waterfall was a bubbly, calming background noise which added to the atmosphere. Staff here is very friendly and the place was well kept.
Good food and very busy. It took an hour to get our food for lunch. Server very nice. I would definitely return.
food was bland and over cooked and dry and it to mention they won’t refund u if u only have one bite of your food!
Three course dinner special was excellent
Google's description of a casual, family restaurant surprised me. I'd sooner take a date here than kids. The patio was lovely, with (propane?) fireplaces, a fountain, and a view of the inner harbor (though from a slight distance). The seafood chowder was good (though contained a few bits of shells), but I think I'd expect a little more for the price. I wasn't in love with the place for dinner, but I'd definitely go back for drinks with the girls.
The place was nothing to write home about but their food was good. We went for Brunch and I had the avocado toast without eggs. Wish you could get a discount or something if you can't eat part of the meal!
