Victoria Park, Southport

It is a lovely place, the locals are lucky to have such a resource. The sea side as such is pretty basic, what with there being no sea and only wetland. All the attractions are around this lake area. But the area outside of the park is becoming run down. They are catering for the masses, cheap drinks virtually all day, a tacky retail park on the sea side of the area. You can see that people are trying hard here, but the Grandeur of Southport past, is fading fast.

This is lovely uncluttered park popular with dog owners like me. It is incredibly flat so if you have trouble walking this park is ideal. I would have given it 5 stars if it would tidy up the potholed entrance down by Rotten Row were the free parking is.

A flooded muddy dump needs a lot of maintenance, such a shame as it used to be a lovely park.

Victoria park is where the Flower Show, the Championship Fireworks, the Food and Drink Festival and others are held. I between those times it is a place to play kickabout, have picnics etc. We go just before closing for a lovely quiet evening stroll. Still has the sun there in the evening. Outside, down one side is Rotten Row with the most beautiful plants and flowers. Gorgeous!
