Vets4Pets Pontypridd - Upper Boat

Took my British bulldog puppy as was the nearest to me, wasn’t allowed in the room due to covid which was fine, social distanced there which is also good, originally asked if she had a hernia and was told no, when she was returned to me was told she did have one and also needed an operation on this and her nose as she was unable to breath and this would be in excess of 2000 I was then promoted the pet plans which I declined, I then went away and sought a second opinion from my now registered vet who has given my puppy an ultrasound and confirmed she does not have a hernia and nor does she have any breathing difficulties and would not require any surgery, vets4pets also stated there was no way we could consider breeding from her however again the full ultrasounds done by my vet confirmed that everything is perfect when the time is right, they would have happily taken my money and performed an operation/operations that my dog simply did not need, disgusting, they also said she would need to be spade at the same time as her “hernia” was repaired! My new vet specialises in dogs and horses and isn’t part of a chain and has years and years of experience, stay away from this chain, I wish I had checked the reviews before going there as it seems across the board whichever premises you visit throughout the uk the opinion is the same! Happy to take your money, and perform treatments that aren’t needed! Trust your gut and if you do go there get a second opinion!!

Just down for booster shots...felt very safe with masks, social distancing gel!!

I was kept waiting at reception past the appointment time. I was not allowed to accompany my pet in the consultation room due to covid....room was too small apparently. The vet seemed more interested in selling a pet cover plan rather than using the time to discuss the animals health. Not a great first experience overall. Would have given 1 star based on that but the receptionist was polite and more helpful than the vet.
