Vesta is in my top Astoria restaurants, which means it's truly superior as the choices in the area are boundless. The atmosphere, the service at and THE FOOD at Vesta are out of this world. Everything is fresh, succulent, subtly surprising... I go for relaxed evenings. I also like to celebrate my birthday here. This is even where my fiance proposed. It's truly a wonderful place. Go! You'll be pleased.
WOW! The tomato soup was rich and delicious! The short ribs were soooo tender you barely needed to chew them, and the gravy was just perfect!! I love the brussel sprouts, crispy and crunchy, and they paired beautifully with the mash potatoes and gravy of the short ribs. Finally, the baby jesus cake was off the charts! Add excellent service and a great atmosphere, and you can see why this place seems to become an instant fave of anyone who visits, as it has for me...
I ordered the shrimp and grits and carbonara mac and cheese with a side of toast. The shrimp and grits was delicious, but I wish there were more shrimp and the toast wasn't really spectacular as there was very little fruit spread relative to the amount of bread.
