Great little wine bar in the heart of Chester. The service, from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left was exceptional. We were hungry so had a look at the food menu and at first thought it was quite overpriced, however the platter that came was huge and every single ingredient on it was the best that we had ever tasted. The best olives, the best cheese, the best meats, the best meat and the truffle honey dip is out of this world! It isn't a cheap day / afternoon / night out by any means but you most definitely get what you pay for. Great service, good wine and excellent food. The wines are all from the family's vineyard back in Italy and I have to say the wine was good.
Came here with friends would definitely avoid. The place is steaming hot with water running down the window. When asked to open a door, or for the reason to the heat, got told by a rather rude waitress that it was due to the kitchen. Later to find out they don't have a kitchen! So which one is it? The waitress was beyond rude for a simple question, glad we walked out, and would not return. Seeing as we were only one of three tables in the restaurant...I don't see how any of the customers would of minded opening a window/door? Would it not be prudent to atleast ask, seeing as we're in a pandemic? And not be rude to your patrons? And yes I do give plenty of positive reviews...you just don't deserve one.... unfortunately.
We were celebrating our wedding for a night in Chester and called to book a wine tasting at Veeno as we’d been once before and really enjoyed it. When we arrived for our tasting Heather and Jo had decorated our table and written a lovely message on the board. The service, food and wine was also amazing! Unlike other wine bars I’ve been to you can tell that they are very knowledgeable about the wine and the food pairings. Everything was perfect and we are so happy we made Veeno part of our special day.
It wasn't until Googling this place to leave a review that I discovered this is in fact a chain, it certainly had the feel of an independent outfit. My companion and I had the meat & cheese board for two with a couple of bruschetta (I highly recommend the spicy sausage - nduja is delicious on anything!). All three dishes together made for a lovely lunch paired with wine. Waitress was absolutely fantastic, very friendly and was able to to tell us about each meat, cheese and other bits on the sharing board without hesitation. She was also very attentive without being too much. Only complaint, is the mispronunciation of bruschetta, the waitress made the popular mistake of saying bruSHetta.
