This sightseeing was very good and extremely well performed by our guide Paul. We heard stories from both military and humanitarian sides during 1940-1944. The Maginot-line is an impressive construction and Hackenberg is very well maintained. I highly recommend a visit. :-)

Beautiful and lovingly restored 10 kilometers of bunker system from second works war, including arms and uniform collection, and small train. Everything still fully functioning. Great feat of engineering and shows how enemies can turn into friends over time. Kids loved it. Wear sweaters, it is 12 degrees Celsius year round. Tour takes about 1,5 hours. Breathtaking!

Diving into history at Hackenberg fort was a great experience! Most of the fort living and utility places are restored and accessible. The train ride to the batteries give the real scale of the fort size and the fully functional battery makes for a particular experience. Strongly recommended for anyone wanting to understand more about the Maginot line. PS : bring warm clothes, it's really cold inside

Always an interesting place to visit. Great history lesson, in a fort with still functioning equipment (especially if you miss your subway commute ). Block half a day for the 2.5-3h tour, come prepared with a warm sweater or blanket, and enjoy sharing the passion of your guide (thank you, Claude)

The guide Paul is a native English speaker living in the area for 20years and passionated about the fort. Such an interesting visit. I would recommend it to everyone at every age

I highly recommend this tour. Hearing about the experiences of the French and the locals after WWI and into WWII as we walked through this old underground fort for very powerful. It adds a whole other dimension to the idea of a museum or learning history. A tip though, it really does get cool. O matter how warm it is outside - you’ll want pants and a jacket or warm sweater!
