Coolpolitics is a foundation that combines being a think-tank with developing and implementing concepts and ideas related to citizenship and active change, focusing on involvement, knowledge and purpose. The Coolpolitics Foundations aims to stimulate young people to actively and equally participate in the social and political discourse as well as decision-making processes that form their life, their society and their future. Our mission is to create a global civil society for youth. Our projects stimulate young people’s involvement, spread information and inspire them to be a positive influence on society. Coolpolitics mixes youth culture, politics, science and art to create meaningful and inspiring productions such as debates and television programmes. Coolpolitics distinguishes itself by engaging with youngsters where they are. Great examples are the academic lectures and the political debates at Lowlands University and on MTV. Coolpolitics is not restricted to the Netherlands, but also looks across the border, in Portugal and South Africa for instance, for a global civil society. In 2011 the Coolpolitics Foundation incorporated Lokaalmondiaal. Lokaalmondiaal’s motto is The rest of the world starts here. Lokaalmondiaal makes documentaries and television programmes, publishes the journals Vice Versa and Join, and organises journalism debates and educational programmes to strengthen commitment to international cooperation.
