The warm and inviting ambience Ushiwakamaru has cultivated in its elegant eatery is further matched by the Japanese cuisine it serves. Tantalizing appetizer options include the miso black cod gindara saikyo, tempura and the eggplant nasu shigitaki. Ushiwakamaru crafts a variety of authentic sushi pieces. Be sure to sit at the sushi bar and watch the master chefs prepare your superb meal. For a sweet end to your meal, try Ushiwakamaru's delicately layered Lady M green tea crepe cake topped with matcha powder and fresh strawberries.All seating is available for a two hour interval.

What else can I add but that this is one of the best hand roll places EVERRRR! The 5 hand rolls were perfect for one person, and the only thing that you could wish for here if that they would roll FASTER! Some of the freshest fish I've had. Get yourself there fast!

Pros: - good value for omakase sushi in Manhattan - fresh fish (favorites were kanpachi, chu-toro, o-toro, aji, tai) - wonderful bafun uni from Hokkaido - incredibly fresh ikura - both the ginger (gari) for sashimi and sushi were homemade and tasty -very friendly and attentive staff Cons: - the rice for all the nirigi was soft and mushy (this was really disappointing) - tako was rubbery - hotate was not as fresh as could be - tamago was not the castella style (it was the tamagoyaki style)
