Great place to play golf, rarely gets too wet. Underrated challenging course with great views over the Vale of Pewsey and one of the renowned Wiltshire White Horses

Only my personal opinion about our visit today Sunday 27 Dec, expectations can be either high or low and tomorrow could be better or worse ... We arrived 30 mins before our tee time and walking past the 1st on our way to the Pro Shop were 7 golfers some of which were drinking cans of Stella Lager .. we were happy that Covid guidelines were in place in the Pro Shop and Toilet facilities, paid our 25.00 Green Fee, confirmed our 12.28 tee off time and were told we could start 10 minutes early if we wanted .. as such we arrived on the first tee same time as a three ball, they said they were teeing of @ 12.26, two minutes before us, we let them go first ... to our dismay the first 2 Greens were designated Temporary, their conditions left a lot to be desired ... No prior notice was given that some main Greens would not be played ... Walking to the third there was an air of disappointment as to what lay ahead .. on the front nine which took 2 hrs 20 minutes to complete was another Temporary Green ... the back nine took 2 hrs 10 minutes .. on the 18th we paired up with another 2 Ball, otherwise they would have finished in semi darkness ... However, on a plus note all the Main Greens in play were in excellent condition, fast and true, the fairways were extremely well defined and drained ... The Bunkers were in play but by more luck than judgement I never played a shot from them ... the Clubhouse was closed ?? ... I truly believe that Upavon is a hidden gem and on another day would be worth 5 Stars, just not today ️ ....
A nice course although the greens are very hard to read. Nice clubhouse and good guest package.
Despite the wet and windy conditions we had a great game of golf on a well presented course.
