Sheer chaos! My Husband was admitted at 02.45 on 29 November 2020, with a serious UTI and back pain which he’d had for 4 weeks and had been prescribed 3 different antibiotics..none of which have helped. He was immediately put on a drip for pain which didn’t help and then another drip but unsure what it was for. He waited 16 hours for bloods to be taken, no ultra sound and no water and had to drink water from the bathroom tap. Every time he requested assistance he was told to wait! Finally he was given some cold chicken noodle soup at 17.30-18.00, but still no water. He only managed to pass water once in that 16 hours. A doctor returned and informed Ed if his blood tests were clear he could go home, my husband tried to explain he needed a urine test and other tests, maybe an ultrasound as he thought he had a kidney infection. 19.30 - 20.00 The shifts changed no blood results, no ultra sound, no water...and to add final insult he found his medical papers still at the back of his bed ...they had not been handed over to the original attending physician. 18 hours later and no further assistance, unable to pass urine and in pain ..he wants to discharge himself and come home, it is now 20.40! I have phoned repeatedly for an update, each time I got through to emergency the phone was picked up and then cut off. Absolute sheer incompetence, negligence and against everything the Hypocratic Oath stands for.

Rather zero stars than one star. A person with a stroke (friend of mine) they sent away and said everything is okay. You are in life danger when going to this hospital. Unbelievably bad!!!! Definitely go to the \Hospital Particular do Algarve - Gambelas - Faro\.

We were highly impressed by the A&E staff at Faro hospital. On arrival, we were quickly triaged and seen by medical staff within 10 mins. The staff were very kind, giving clear instructions and were highly skilled!

I had DCR surgery yesterday in the ambulatory surgical unit and have to say that the facilities and staff were excellent Their thoughtfulness and care and attention were amazing Thank you to you all for making a stressful time less so Must comment on others complaints that staff do not speak English How many nurses in UK speak Portuguese -except maybe in London where there are many Portuguese nurses? One nurse told me she had been shouted at and abused by patients because she did not speak English This is appalling behavior

Thelma the nurse at Centro Hospital in Faro looked after my wife on 18 February 2019. My wife Effie was taken to Faro from Villa Real by ambulance. She was being treated for a broken ankle. The purpose of this note is to thank and praise Thelma for her professional and compassionate care, and to say to the management of the hospital that they are fortunate to have a woman like Thelma working for them. Gratefully, Jim and Effie (Euphemia) Taylor

My two-year old was quite ill and they did a great job at the pediatrics ER. The diagnosis was correct, fast and the treatment given allowed a prompt recovery from what could have become something much more serious. The personal from the doctor to the nurses was absolutely fantastic and very kind. They treat children with a lot of respect and kindness. The nurse insisted that I explain every procedure to my daughter beforehand and allowed time for that, they gave me bubbles to play with to distract her during certain procedures, they really tried to make is as easy for her as could be, very humane. I can highly recommend the pediatrics unit of this hospital.

If you’re sick please bring your own translator, I was in need of help and nobody could speak anything but Portuguese. The doctor was able to, although before I had the chance to speak with one I had the hardest time of my life being in pain and not being able to be understood in 3 different languages. Paper work and paid 18 without any explanations of what I had or what it was about to happen to me. If you’re a foreigner, just go back home.
