It was very quiet when we visited, so we had all the time to study the details and understand the history of this place. Considering it has already largely been restored, it would be even more interesting to see parts of the seating restored as well, perhaps even have performances again. That said, the arena is in great shape and one gets an excellent feel for how things may have been in Roman times.

About 10 minutes walk from the city center. Big amphitheater from roman times. You can walk around the top, down all around it and under the \arena\ in the cellar below. Very interesting to see and fairly well preserved.

I think a-must-see besides the Porta Nigra. Not a big amphitheater, but how many do you know, and that far north? If you can imagine this in the Roman days, this is really something impressive. Your visit will not take long, maybe when taking it slowly something about 30-40 minutes. But I think that is enough and worth it, especially the space underneath the Arena. Toilets available and there is a vending machine. For a family of four it was 8,- admission fee.

Outside of the city center of Trier. The amphitheater is really worth the 10 min walk. But you can easily get there by car too . It is a small amphitheater but you are really able to picture how it must have looked in its glory days. Information boards along the site explain the history .

An historical place worth the stop. Only a few euro to get in. We spend a few hours here exploring every corner of this place. Get into the center and yell and hear the echo. Set in a beautiful town around other historical places.
