As with all Stermat stores make sure you get the exact product you need as returning anything meets with annoyance and a feeling you're a criminal. Unlike any decent store refunds are virtually impossible to get without a row. It may be I've been unlucky over the years but there's a consistent attitude from staff at the tills that you will have to fight to the death for satisfaction.

Take a walk along the Coastal path through the woods and along the side of the Menai straits. Look across to Anglesey and the Menai Suspension Bridge and Britannia Bridge . Go as far as the Gothic mausoleum from the Vaynol estate and then back towards the garden centre, about 2 hrs and quite an easy walk.

I love going to this place it’s a real treasure trove, cafes ok too and the staff are helpful. So why did I put a 1 star rating??? Unfortunately what let’s it down is One member of staff at the tills. Every time I go she is very short with people. Considering she’s one of the older members of staff you would of thought her customer service skills would be fantastic!! But unfortunately not. She’s short with people and over all rude. Wouldn’t surprise me if she was an owner because surely a normal member of staff wouldn’t be allowed to speak to customers with her attitude.

The garden centre is good, everything you need and more. However the cafe service today was extremely poor, we had to ask for a dog bowl to be removed then sat for a good 15 minutes, nobody came to us to take our order even though the waitress was serving other tables and knew that we were waiting. No point in sitting there being ignored so we left!

Called in here to have lunch as their sign was boasting 'good food'. Unfortunately, the cafe was pretty grim. The pots and cutlery were not clean. I could feel multiple lumps of dirt on the base of my saucer and the teapot was no better - yuk. We had already ordered and paid for our food, although 2 out of the 3 items on the menu that we ordered were not available. We had 2 dishes with bacon, although tasty and thick, it was dripping in black (burnt) fat and had stringy rind which had to be removed to make it edible. In a toasted sandwich with brie, you would expect the brie to be melted, but no - it arrived solid. The chips were lovely though, hence the 2*'s. On the plus side, the garden centre itself was like an Aladdin's cave with so much to see/buy. In summary, I would never eat here again; the place is dirty, the loos dirty, the crockery and cutlery dirty - I don't want to think what the kitchen would be like. The garden centre itself looks great for a variety of goods.
