Dropped in here on way home from Dumfries couple of weeks ago. . Best fish and chips I’ve had in years. Beautiful crisp batter on lovely fresh sweet tasting haddock, and the tastiest chips without a hint of grease. Top notch!

I was visiting the town and wanted a quick meal. Went into the restaurant upstairs. Asked for fish and salad and a coffee, with brown bread and butter. No coffee, no brown bread. When the meal first arrived, it came with chips. When it arrived a second time, it had some lack lustre salad and 70% of the fish was batter. The fish was dry and tasteless. The bread was a single slice of dry bread. When i went to pay, the cashier tried to charge me 16 instead of the 8.50. it took 2 staff before they got it right. My advice, give this place a miss.

Great fish and chips. Second visit. Good old fashioned restaurant upstairs. The way chippies used to be. Clean tidy and well spaced out for social distancing.
