SPEX is rated 3 out of 5 in the category computer hardware. Read and write reviews about SPEX. SPEX was created from the need to help individuals living with low vision see. We began this mission by testing all types of wearable platforms including AR and VR systems, but none of them could really do the job. Most people with central vision loss still retain good peripheral vision. By working with many low vision people and specialists, we designed a system from the ground up that was deliberately open to native peripheral vision while combining high zoom video with high contrast opaque displays. The final ingredient involved hardware and software that could process each video frame in real-time to enhance the image for the damaged eye. The resulting platform that has given sight to the legally blind for thousands of people, is now available to bring enhanced vision to many other difficult real-world mobile applications. Hands-Free Design A comfortable, wearable and hands-free device, allowing people to use both hands for their tasks all day long. Enables Mobility Let users use the technology while seated and plugged in to HDMI and other video sources, but also be fully be mobile to assist with tasks anywhere. Powerful & Open A high resolution, low-latency video capture, processing and display system that is open to application developers.
