Highly recommend Tomo Japanese Language School for anyone looking to learn japanese. I almost finished the beginners course. My teacher Aki, he is very patient and passionate in teaching us, made every lesson enjoyable and easy to understand. I like his way of teaching, very motivate us to practice speaking in small group, interaction are fun and great to improve conversation skills. Decided to continue on to the basic course with my teacher!

I have been attending Tomo Japanese for about 1.5 years from the Basic level through to Intermediate 2 with Kazu Sensei. The courses have consistently been interactive and engaging while continuously moving forward with increasing difficulty. The class size ranges from about 8-15 students, although this may seem big at first you still get plenty of talking time as there is a lot of pair and group work opportunities. During the circuit breaker period the classes switched to an online method, which at first I was apprehensive but was pleasantly surprised. Kazu Sensei utilises Zoom to the fullest capability to ensure people aren't just sitting in a 2 hour long lecture! There are still breakout sessions and interactions between teacher and students making the most of the technology available to us. Tomo provides a textbook (see picture) that we utilise throughout the courses to learn grammar. They also supplement each lesson with an english translation of the text, vocabulary covered in that chapter and 1 page of homework to test your understanding. They also give additional reference cards to summarise all the important information (see picture). I would recommend going to Tomo Japanese Language School if you're looking for a fun casual way to learn Japanese :) All the best!

Signed up to join a pre-advance class upon news that physical classes could resume from Phase 3. Under Kazu Sensei, classes have been enriching with time given to practise grammar structures learnt in simulated real-life situations (not just the textbook examples).

I attended Tomo back in 2016 and was taught by Tomoki sensei. I recall class was fun and interactive, so in 2020 when I decided to pick up Japanese properly again, I contacted Tomo sensei who referred me to my current teacher, Kazu sensei. Did a placement test which put me in his Intermediate class. Although classes were conducted on Zoom before phase 3, it was still engaging. Finally phase 3 came and I could finally meet my classmates in person! Would recommend if you are keen on practicing your spoken Japanese and grammar.

It has been a delightful experience learning Japanese at Tomo Japanese Language School under Kazu sensei. The lessons are engaging and fun, they are student-centred and there is a lot of focus on communication rather than just writing. The teaching techniques used are more evolved than some other traditional schools. I have learnt Japanese at another school previously but it was rather stressful and intimidating. I'm glad I switched to Tomo Japanese Language School as the learning experience here is non-intimidating and enjoyable.

When I first attended Tomo Japanese Language school, I was amazed by the classroom settings. (Haha, like cafe!) The teachers serve hot teas and snacks for their students during lesson. This is a bonus point as most of the schools actually prohibit drinking and eating during lesson. Most importantly, the reason I have been with Tomo Japanese school for more than 1 year is because of their learning curriculum and teachers! Professional and fun-loving teachers! I did my japanese studies previously in both Singapore and Japan, and I must say Tomo Japanese is my favourite school! :)

Tomoka-sensei is very dedicated and helpful! Her lessons are fun and interactive. Even for basic lessons, you get lots of opportunities to practice speaking and listening. In-class games are great to improve conversational skills and grammatical understanding. Great option for learners who want to pick up practical Japanese :)

I've been taking lessons with Tomoka Sensei for almost a year. She's always cheerful, patient and, most importantly, makes an effort to connect with her students. I also particularly enjoy how she doesn't just teach us the language, but also tries to introduce nuggets of Japanese culture into every lesson. :) これまでのすべてに感謝します, 先生!
