Booked here for Sunday lunch as visiting local area. Staff very friendly and helpful and food wonderful home cooked and very good portions the dark brownie and cheese board was delicious and very well presented. Throughly recommend and would return if in the area again !

After a visit the the York Designer Village we looked for a good place to eat and we definitely found one!! Impeccable service and excellent food at a very reasonable price. I cannot recommend The Woodman highly enough. Very good with children and a huge garden at the rear that has a great trim trail style playground. 10/10
Update 15/08/19. Came back for dinner. Food was equally good. Sadly the service was provided by two different girls. They were awful! We ended up leaving after trying to order dessert, but no one would come to take the order. These two should be canned!! Visiting from USA and found this wonderful place! We had the two dishes and dessert pictured. All fabulous!! The staff and service were equally wonderful and so pleasant!!
Tried it today , food was really good. Unfotunatly undermined by the attitude of the manager or leader. Walked in and asked for a table outside , got a no without really asking what we wanted. Had a table outside and was told they would come and take our order. Waited 15 minutes and went into the bar to order and got a response of I'm not walking all of the way up there with the food (from who seemed to be the manager). Then agreed they would (it was the garden to the bar). The rest of the team were much more friendly and when we got our food it was very good and full credit to the chef. Would recommend people go as it's lovely food and I can only imagine an off day in terms of service .
Very convivial surroundings. Pleasant staff. Best of all we all agreed that the food was excellent. Went twice it was so nice. Highly recommended but would advise booking as Very popular.
