Upmarket, filling, pub grub in pleasant setting. Sorry and surprised to see it so quiet. It deserves better custom. Longer term, I'm also sorry to say, and hence the three stars rather than four or five, our fondness for it was diminished, though, by the owner squeezing a new house onto the pub's now former garden / outdoor seating. Short-term greed that will surely lose longer-term trade.

Fantastic friendly village pub. My husband and I found this gem while out cycling. It is cyclist friendly with a bike stand in the beer garden. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Serve a wide range of drinks including coffee. Food is served here and the Sunday roast is very tasty and great value for money. Every time we visit the York area to cycle we always call in here.
Food was lovely as always. Staff friendly and made for an enjoyable family early tea. Well set up for the social restrictions. Support your local eateries/pubs.
Lovely food and drink. John & Di are friendly hosts and very attentive. The pub itself is very cosy and welcoming, the food is excellent and our regards go to the chef for the menu, we can highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding. There's also a nice selection of cask ales, the 'Timothy Taylor' Bolt Maker is especially nice.
First time we’d been to The White Swan, we had a warm welcome and the food and service were great. Couldn’t fault the meal at all. The owners and waitress were friendly - will definitely return! The ham hock and black pudding was superb!
