Lovely place to dine (tables in corners give privacy) but it's all about the food, right? The Wheatsheaf has a longish specials board that supplements a standard pub menu. Over four meals on two visits, the specials dishes were better quality than the standard menu. Unfortunately my dinner companion didn't enjoy his (standard menu: burger) much so don't think we'll be going again soon. My fish dish was delightful. Charnwood Brewery ale is great.

Food was average for how expensive it was. It's essentially 16 for a carvery that's kept warm in the kitchen. Service was good though.
Beautifully crafted food. A very classy country pub. Drinks were cheaper than expected and the Christmas dinner was something special. I can see why this place is so popular!
Had the lamb pie, jacket potato and fish and chips. The lamb pie was full of meat, veggies and flavours. Great dish for a winter lunch. I would highly recommend this place -- especially because of the Christmassy decor
