Lovely pub ,small but a great beer garden out back. The food is fantastic and staff friendly. Recommend the choc fondant pudding with clotted cream, but ask for extra cream ' your gonna need it

Food was good but took a long, long time to get ordered and then to get served to the table after that. Ironically was very heavily staffed at the time. Didn't seem that far off a member of waiting staff per table so don't know why it wasn't a better experience than it was as looked to all have been set up to be hugely efficient.

I cycled here from Colchester on a a sunny afternoon in October. We sat outside and had a good pint before moving off to the next watering hole. The location is lovely, with views down to the Roman River Valley. I had already eaten elsewhere, so didn't sample the food. The menu looked good though. I need to come back for a meal before I can get a fuller feel for the place.

Beautiful evening vista whilst dining in a private pavilion. The ambience and service is impeccable. Cuisine is something else...absolutely exquisite. Would highly recommend all day long and cannot wait for the next visit.

Had a relaxed lunch with a friend in the garden on a sunny Saturday. The food was tasty, obviously made with very fresh ingredients and well prepared. I had classic fish and chips and my companion found vegetarian options in soup and stuffed mushrooms. The staff were helpful, polite and attentive and the Covid provision was robust enough to make me feel safe without feeling draconian. Highly recommended and I will be returning with my family. Also big thanks to the staff who helped my friend following a cycle accident on the way over.
